View Full Version : [ubuntu] Configuring elevation prompts

I would like to know how to configure the elevation prompts using Gnome. Simply, I would like to be able to configure what needs elevation, what is elevated automatically and also be able to add elevation prompts.

Pointing me in the right direction will probably answer other questions as I read on the subject.

Letting kids use the network has been the biggest challenge I think I have had. I want them to be able to program and 'do things', but I've had a few installations wrecked by 'kids'. So, I am trying to move everyone over to Ubuntu. Understanding GDM and Gnome has slowed me down somewhat.

In all respect, in response to any security lectures, please see below. I do wear big boy pants.

Thanks

I'll keep this in a .txt in case I need it again:
Regarding security: I've read Essential System Administration (OReilly), Windows XP Professional 3 (Microsoft Press) and Windows XP Second Edition Inside Out (Microsoft Press). The XP references are there to prove 1) I can read. 2) I know I might want to try something different.
