The title is short, but here is my situation. There is only one game that I am playing that needs Cedga. Battlefield 2. I installed the free trial version of Cedga and it runs BF2 great (well, except that PunkBuster doesnt' work, that's a BIG pain in the butt). So, I would like to pay to use Cedga, but I can't justify paying $60 just to play my game. I have no issue dual booting.
So my question. If I pay for the first month's subcription, and then I cancel, can I still use the current version of Cedga? Or will it stop working?
I searched the forums to no avail.

the version you buy will remain active after you have cancelled your subscription. You will not be able to get updates and newer versions.
i would strongly suggest if you decide to take this action to download the latest version of the cedega.deb and copy it to disc. that why should youy ever have to re install Ubuntu you will not have any difficulty re-installing Cedega.

You have to pay for 3 months in advance, so it's $15 then you can cancel it.....if they havn't changed that.

Oh. Hmm. I think I can still swing with that. I really wish they had punkbuster working inside BF2. I'm sure it's a PB issue not a cedega issue, but still, that would really be great.

OK. Not paying for this. Or using it anymore. Punkbuster doesn't work at all. Of course, that makes BF2 pointless. I found 1 server in the past 2 days that I could play on. ONE.

The folk at Cedega make me mad.
Has anyone figured out how to install it from the CVS?

I guess it might be pointless since the CVS version is old (circa v4) and probably won't BF2 at all...

You can't really blame the people at cedega for lack of support. They are doing the best they can. Cedega charges $5 a month to help fund their development needed for proprietary code emulation and cd encryption support (Reason being the cvscedega doesn't contain all of the code that is released in the binary version). It takes time to reverese engineer and develop the Win32 API layers needed by these games. (I don't eve think Cedega supports dx9 yet. Wine does.) I'm sure the BF2 problem, if its seen on a large scale, will be fixed soon enough seeing as how they release patches all the time. Just be patient and you problems should be resolved.

If they figure out a way to get PB working, then I will pay. Heck, I'll pay for a year just to help out. But as of now, it doesn't do much for me.
