That adapter appears to be a standard USB HID device, so it shouldn't need a specialized driver. It should automatically show up as a joystick device.

yes it does recognize my adapter, but when I connect my N64 controller, I don't receive full range of the analog stick.

Have you tried...
sudo apt-get install jscalibrator
?

Oh. I have one of those.
I found that jscalibrator didn't work, and I have to use the joystick kcontrol module. I already had kubuntu installed, so this is no problem for me. I don't know if you can install the joystick program independently, though...

Bit of a necropost, but hey.
I've finally found that jstest comes with jscal, which, although a command line program, works the best. You see, it will output your configuration settings, which you can save and apply again the next time you use the controller.
All the KDE Joystick program seems to be is a graphical version of jscal. jscalibrator just hasn't been updated in forever, and just doesn't work.
