I am wondering why many linux and mac users are hating Microsoft?

Yes, I am using Ubuntu and liked it very much and I do not use Windows but I do not hated Microsoft.

Nobody hates anything without a reason so what are the reasons making some people hate Microsoft?

I suppose most of the people who say they "hate Microsoft" are not serious, but just joking. On the other hand, much of the frustration that people have experienced with Windows is indirectly due to the fact that Windows is rather vulnerable and the fact that some people appear to really hate Microsoft since they try to infect other people's computers, running Windows, with viruses... So, I would suggest that a certain part of the dislike is related to the security problems and means of preventing them (the need to use antivirus software, etc.) in Windows — while this is certainly not the only or even main reason why for instance I have more or less completely "migrated" to Linux.

I do not hate Microsoft, either — I just don't enjoy using their products so much.

well you could hate them for their numerous violations of anti-trust laws in the US and Europe.

Winning by stifling the competition rather than competing. MS's attempts to get people to not use linux by spreading FUD that it supposedly infringes upon 200+ patents none of which were disclosed. For those into conspiracies MS funding SCO to wage their legal attack on linux.

They make shoddy operating systems that get infected and spam me with ads to increase my breast size and enlarge my manly parts.

Microsoft to me is the main reason windows is so bad, they basically ignore stability and security for flash and gimmicks.
They learned nothing from ME

One also has to lavish the love on MS for their fanatical battles against open source software, support of heavy-handed DRM, and engaging in tactics such as funding patent trolls and the like. I view MS as being something akin to a rabid dog. You can't really blame it for what it does, but that doesn't mean you have to just sit back and let it bite you every chance it gets.
