All I can say is NICE!

Had a little hiccup installing java, but I ended up getting it installed and working within a few minutes. So far everything works, including the HDMI out and the web cam.

Anything y'all wanna know?

How about an update- any problems yet?? I have noticed some wireless problems posted about this laptop.

Have you reinstalled ubuntu from scratch? I'm wondering if the pre-installed ubuntu version from dell works smoothly but a reinstalled version not so much.

Have you updated to 8.10?

thanks a lot! I am considering getting one.

I have noticed some wireless problems posted about this laptop.
It depends on what wireless card you have in your 1530. Like with most Dell computers, you can choose between different components. Mine has an Intel 4965 wireless card which works without any problems. People with an Intel 3945 seem to have more problems with it.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.2 (64-bit) on my M1530 and it works great (http://jesperdj.pbwiki.com/Ubuntu+on+the+Dell+XPS+M1530).
