I just installed version 8.04 LTS from the DVD that came with "The Official Ubuntu Book". I was able to install Ubuntu using the text option. It installed no problem, but when Ubuntu started my desktop is totally distorted, tried re-starting doesn't help. When I ran Ubuntu from this same disc on a different computer, everything was fine. Since the desktop is distorted, I can't check on any settings. Help! Thank you.

I've solved my own problem, by uninstalling Ubuntu with instructions from this forum, but I can't find them now. It involved downloading Bootit and burning it to a CD. You can then run Bootit from the CD and remove the partitions. Once I uninstalled Ubuntu, I re-installed in the safe graphics mode, and now I can see the desktop. Now if I could just get the wireless working...
