I can't seem to find clear cut directions for dvd-slideshow and the ones I looked at used packages I didn't have or were just way too complicated for me< I need an easier way so I can make a slideshow this year

I would love to use dvd-slideshow as long as the other packages are available in synaptic manager. Also would love to hear about any slideshow you have done and how you did it.. I really want to do this: (what happened to pink ponies)

I used it once in gutsy to figure out something for someone, it took a bit to get it working and it was only nessesary for a basic running ver. (slides with an audio track.
Anyway I found the couple of posts with google, the bug may or may not have beed fixed, maybe you can get something useful.

I just managed to get this going last night, and I found the best way was to install from the repos to get the dependancies, and then download the latest .deb (0.8 I think) from sourceforge and install it. After that it worked fine. Without the >deb download I was having a load of problems relating to ffmpeg, even though I was not using an audio track. I have only used it to make a simple 8 image slideshow so far so I cant help with a tutorial on use, but as I learn the app I will post back for you. Even though it is a command line app, and therefore not very intuative for graphics, the commands dont seem over complex. If you print the help output it will give you a good idea of what to do. The only advice I can give at the moment, is to use the text iput file option, that way you can make changes without an overcomplicated command line input.
