I am running intrepid server and am trying to configure openLDAP to work with SAMBA, and have found the instructions provided by the ubuntu website to be wanting. Does anyone know of a tutorial or a book on the latest openLDAP version. I have found that most of the stuff out there is still using the versions that use the slapd.conf file and from what I can tell the latest doesn't use it so configuring it, and understanding what I am doing, is very confusing. I have visited openLDAP.org and tried to read the posted instructions but they seem to be outdated as well because they say the new version doesn't use the slapd.conf but then when I go to the instructions for configuring slapd it tells me how to configure the file it no longer uses. I am, I must admit a novice at this but am trying to learn and would appreciate any help. If anyone could point me in the direction of some understandable instructions please, please, please do so. Thanks!
