Circle of Friends icon

Hello, I was curious on whether or not the Circle of Friends icon (The Ubuntu logo) is copyrighted. Is it legal to use for Non-Commercial rights without having to state who the creator is? (I don't know the creator either)

It is copyrighted, but they don't mind non-commercial use.
