Dear Friends,

I have started using Ubuntu 8.04 and its a good experience. But i am facing some problems.the problems are

1) i have sony vaio laptop, series FZ18M. Though its speakers are working perfect but when i want to use my headphones , i find them not working.its not a usb headphone (its the one with the pins). I hope that you people will help me out.

2) Normally when we suspend/turn our laptop into sleep mode they go into standby mode. By pushing any key they come back into active mode but it does not happens in me. Whether i press a key once or 1000 times , it stays i the sleep/suspend mode, which is quite frustrating because i have to shut the laptop and to restart it again .

Best Regards
shoaib

Hi!

1)Click on the loudspeaker icon which is probably located in the upper right corner of your desktop. As I myself am not using an English version, I am not sure what you should look for exactly, but I am sure that there should be a tickbox labled headphones somewhere. If not, go to edit-->preferences and tick the headphone option. That should add a new 'tab' in which the aforementioned option can be seen.

2)To resume from suspend, use to button you normally use to start your computer.

Hm...

See if this (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/184314) helps.
