I'm sorry, but I don't have any problem or complaints. I just wanted to report to everybody that Xubuntu 8.10 installed absolutely flawlessly from the Live CD on my really old Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop machine!
I had to reinstall my OS on there because it was just so windowsed up, (meaning slow and buggy w/malware), so i did but when i did i left some space for another OS. Well I tried to install Fedora first, but I couldn't get it to boot properly. Next I tried Back Track, but I had problems starting X. It wasn't working right with my Geforce4. I think i was struggling with the nvidia drivers or something. Anyways, I then downloaded, burned, and booted the Xubuntu 8.10. on to CD. And OMG! So happy!! I first checked it out from the cd, everything came up just fine and all so i thought okay, reboot and chose to install to hard drive. And that was it. Off it went and when it came to my partitions, i actually decided to scruntch the windows install in to a 6GB space and leave everything else for Xubuntu and swap! And off it went, booted up fine, everything was there, working. I had my PCIMIA wireless card plugged in, and with no problems found a bunch of wireless networks around my appartment. Windows broke my wireless card like 10 months ago and it hasn't been working, but now it works flawlessly!
I'm so happy. Thank you! I love Xubuntu! Keep up the good work please!!
