Going Insane - VirtualBox Upgrade

Somebody please help

heres the story


Install Vista in VirtualBox 2.0.2
get told to access hare folders I need 2.0.4 or above
install 2.0.4
everything goes wrong
remove everything to start again
install latest version (2.1.2?)
seem to go fine but no entry in applications folder
can't start from terminal as it tells me its not installed
try to reinstall 2.0.2 and am told that I need to remove 2.1

How are you starting form terminal ? It is case sensitive, so you would need VirtualBox (not virtualbox or Virtualbox etc).

Did you install Guest Additions:
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/virtualbox-guest-addons.html

And shared folder works with VB since I remember, version 1.4 and up.
