View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cannot mount USB drive unless disable network

I have just installed 8.10 on a Compaq nc6220 and it will not recognise any USB drive. When I plug a drive in (same with flash drives and USB HDDs) the device does not appear in /dev and it isn't mounted automatically nor can I mount it manually (fairly obviously since there is no device).

However, if I disable the network in network manager applet everything works properly, exactly the same as all my other Ubuntu machines.

I have years of experience with Linux and run Ubuntu on 5 machines and have never experienced this before. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or what I can do to fix it?
