Hello,

I am talking abt the panel for wireless network which allows you to scan and select the wireless - network manager

And how do I change my username to being the admini.

I dont get it, the wiress seems to work even if its turned off( i am not wired either)

It is not turned off, you just don't have the icon (applet) to change things if you need to. And if you right click the panel and choose add to panel, you can add the icon to your panel.

If you are the one who installed Ubuntu, you have admin rights by default, read here about Admin privileges and how to use them:

by off I mean, the wireless switch is off and it still works.
when I added the panel, its not showing the available networks its just showing the current network strength.

Did you right click it and check properties? What "switch" is off ?

Update.

the wireless now connects to some random network and not mine.

I am not able to select the available network. I have already added the network manager in add/remove but its not showing up.

I have also added the network monitor to the panel, but it just shows is come random network and the strength
