Hello everyone, I'm planning on getting rid of vista and getting mythbuntu for my HTPC but i have some questions for you guys:

Are ATI Radeon 2400 graphics cards supported?
Do Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi cards work?
Do DViCO FusionHDTV DVB-T Plus TV tuner cards and remote work?

It is very important that the remote works for it as that will be used to control the PC 99% of the time for watching TV. Thanks.

Thanks.

Hi,

Although ATI graphic cards are supported the support isn't that good, always recommend NVidia cards for Linux boxes.

Why not just download the install CD boot from it and use it like a LiveCD to see who good the system works? Unlike windows you can use Linux without having to install it on a Harddisk.

I'm not sure about your DVB card have a look at www.linuxtv.org and http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DViCO

Thanks for the reply, will I be able to configure everything from the LiveCD to see if I can get TV and remote working or will I have to install? Do the ATI drivers come with the liveCD or do i have to download them?

Hey guys, any updates on the DVB-T Plus and ATI cards? How are we looking with ATI support and the USB IR remote?

Thanks much.

You will be able to configure everything as if ubuntu was installed on your HDD, the only difference is that you configuration (drivers etc.) will not be persistent (when you shut down it will be lost)
so....for testing if drivers etc. will work out this is the way to go,
once you got everything to work you can do a persistent install ;)
