Ok Guys....Um..So I install Ubuntu...takes a week to get my wireless card going.

Within the next day, I update my video drivers, Firefox, install some apps, Install 14 day trial of Cedega....install EverQuest.....
EverQuest loads on first attempt, and runs PERFECTLY. Mind you it never ran perfectly in Windows....alwas a bit laggy, coppy.

Perfectly on Ubuntu. Im absolutely amazed....

Sure it runs kinda bad when EQ is in windowed mode, but in Full Screen, perfect FPS.

I did notice EQ isnt detecting all the abilities my video card can do..textures ect..but thats a tweak that can wait. :)

Im glad to hear this success story with Cedega.

I myself felt similar about my experience with Guildwars and Cedega. There were one or two odd idyo's , but one those were taken care of, Prime gaming.

yeah Ill have to fiddle with it to see about the vertex shaders. I dont have access to Cedegas forums yet because I am not a susbscriber.

I wonder if the free version of wine works as well? Can both be on the system or would they interfere?

Wine and Cedega can be on the same system (they run independently of each other) but you'll have much better luck with games in Cedega. Wine runs some games quite well, but I know on Guild Wars at least it just fails to load.

There should be options in Cedega's control panel/configuration file to enable pixel/vertex shaders, I think. However, you may not have access to the control panel until you register...you should check it out.
