Webcam on VMWare-Player

On my DELL Inspirion 1525 with Ubuntu 8.04, I have installed VMWare-Player installing another Ubuntu 8.04 as OS-Client
On the OS-Host the integrated webcam works perfectly, but in the OS-Client neither with Kopete nor with Skype.
The led of the webcam goes on, but no images appear on the test window.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem.
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on a new Dell Vostro 1015. The built-in webcam works fine on Linux and on Windows 7 not running under Linux but when I try to run Windows 7 under Vmplayer 4.0.1 build-528992 under Linux it can't see the camera. I installed the Dell Webcam central software under Vmplayer using the CD that came with the laptop but it didn't help. :-(

Any suggestions ?
