first off, hi everyone, im new to linux and am just learning i ;)

i have two questions: why isn't the new Alien Arena version in the Synaptic game list?

and with either version of the game would it be easy for me to set up a Lan server on my linux rig and than my little bro connect to it on his linux rig? or is there difficult networking thats involved?

thanks for any help.

As to why alien arena 08 is not in the repos I have no idea.. but I bet you can find a .deb file for it over at getdeb.net.

As for setting up a lan I find setting up a Lan the same amount of difficulty on any OS.

You can always compile from source. You can get the source code here http://icculus.org/alienarena/rpa/aquire.html#tag2

getdeb has the latest version for Intrepid:

http://www.getdeb.net/app/Alien+Arena

You can also get ready made binaries from the Alien Arena website, or if you really want to, the source so you can compile it.

Download the binaries (click on one of the links were it says "AA 2008 for Linux"). Extract the file. Double click on one of the binaries (crx); make sure it's executable first (right click the binary and check under the permissions tab). The game should run with no problem.
