View Full Version : [ubuntu] wake on lan help

The problem: My wireless router is set to WPA2. My DS supports only WEP.

The Solution (I'm gunning for anyway): My machine has two network interfaces. One is Eth, and the other is Wifi. I have a wireless device that can ssh into the machine and run commands, and also send "magic packets". I want to set up my machine so that I can wake it, then enable the wireless as an AP using WEP so I can connect to it with my DS, then, when I'm done, close it.

But right now, my first obstacle is the wake on lan (which I want to pull off whether or not the other parts of this plan works).

I tried to use this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=234588&highlight=wake+lan) walkthough, but my machine is still unresponsive. My NIC is integrated with my motherboard (Asus P5Q Pro) and I set it to allow PCI to invoke a wake event in the BIOS.

I'll bet that I'm missing something so obvious that I'm going to kick myself for it when it gets pointed out.

Struggling with unresponsive P5Q in Ubuntu and just cant seem to get it to work.
