Hello,

If anyone remembers this programming language called Blitz3d Windows, that is what I am looking for. Basically, its a programming language specifically made 3d games. The programming language was simple but flexible.

Here is more information about it : http://www.blitzbasic.com/Products/blitz3d.php

I'm trying to avoid programming languages like C++ because they are complex and making games with them require lots of free time (which I don't have a big amount of) and also deep knowledge. Blitz3d allowed to make games pretty quickly and that worked well. It had also great plugins like for ODE physics and a good community .

In brief, I'm looking for something similar to Blitz3d in Linux.

Thanks

This probably isn't exactly what you're asking for, but it is capable of some quite amazing things:

It's designed with kids in mind but is by no means limited to kids games.
Check out some of the screenshots and videos on their site.

Too simplistic...

Well if that's not your cup of tea your best bet would be probably be something like OGRE (http://www.ogre3d.org/) or possibly Blender.

I learned to program with Blitz 3d, back in the day!

Try Python. Its actually more intuitive then BB3d was. Plus, BB3d is no longer supported by blitz research, they have something spiffier called blitz max. I would suggest pyogre and pygame together as a workable substitute to BB3d's input/output functions, but I have not gotten pyogre to actually work, as of now. Pygame is fine for 2d stuff, though.

Check out PureBASIC, http://www.purebasic.com

There is a linux trial as well as Mac OS X and Windows.

PureBASIC has the Ogre engine integrated :)

Oh, and PureBASIC compiles down to native machine code and allows inline ASM

Irrlicht, Primerely C++ but there are binding available for other languages. It is very easy to use, even from C++. C++ isn't as complicated as its often made out to be.

why not trying blitzmax? it already has got some pretty impressive 3D modules. i saw some really cool stuff happening with that. and blitzmax also is crossplattform. but the linux ide is just crap.

I would suggest learning C++ as your natural next step.
