That screenshot is so confusing - I can't really tell if it's XP in seamless mode or something else.
EDIT: OHHH! I see it now!

ROFL! This is the reason I stopped paying for anti-virus even before I made the switch to linux. Nothing but false positives and false negatives.

We can laugh at this, but all the fake scan malware are causing a lot of problems for windows users. And they change their signatures often enough to cause many of the top av's to miss them. I'm also digging the gumby feel of this thread

That's the same as the Antivirus 2009 scam that some websites trigger. When people click on the link, it installs a trojan and also takes you to another website where they try to get your credit card info. Many computer challenged people fall for this.

Another reason that, when I got a shiny little Toshiba laptop, I simply installed 8.10 on it and got rid of (shudder) Vista.
I only wish I'd been using Ubuntu a couple of years earlier; it would have saved me a great deal of grief.;)

I know someone that ran into something like this shortly after I wiped their windowsXP for ubuntu. He isn't computer savvy and after some serious XP issues I convinced him I could configure ubuntu to keep him safe (without buying antivirus) and still allow him to do everything he needs (which is only word processing and web browsing). After installing ubuntu I showed him what sudo & gksudo looked like, told him so long as he never entered his password into them the worst he could do is mess up his personal files but his system as a whole would be safe. A week or two later he ran into some webad pretending to be an 'official windows security alert' and called me up concerned. I then pointed out to him that the site was claiming *windows* security alert and he doesn't even have windows installed anymore. I then reminded him of the safety sudo/gksudo gave him so long as he didn't put in his password (he never has as far as I know) and anything he sees that looks like that is probably (definitely) just a scam.

It probably wouldn't hurt to kill WINEserver before you visit that to laugh in it's face........better to be safe than sorry.....

I decided to give it a shot myself. This is very dangerous to people who dont understand how much cons go thru to make you click the *.exe download. Of course, even if said person was using Firefox instead of IE on windows, they could still give them trouble.
I wonder how Google Chrome would have fared? Or even Opera or Safari
Anyway, heres my screenie. I thought it was funny. But others could fall for it. (artistically, its very convincing)
THIS IS A NO-NO!
ps: I run dual monitors. That explains the wiiiiiide screen.

Please restrict posts of this nature to the cafe... I'm closing this thread but have no ambition left to move it.
