Hi. I'd like to get this ancient printer working for a friend of mine with Ubuntu 8.10. It's an old parallel port connected thing that works ok with XP.
Any chance?

Hi, I have the same printer (one of three printers) and yes it is very old. my question is...is it still possible to buy toner for it and if so...where?

It's a friend's printer - I can ask about toner.
Can you print to it at all from ubuntu? (what driver?)

The Star Micronics LS-5EX is not listed in the Linux OpenPrinting database.

You might try the LS-04 driver.
