I started out using Kino. With Kino I can capture videos from my Sony Hi8 camcorder directly to a .dv format. I then add a basic chapter structure based on beginning/ending sceens. I even add basic titles before each scene. Kino then allows for basic export directly to DVD's in the appropriate format (NTSC) for me. Kino works well and does what I need it to do...
except...
It crashes a lot.
Now I've started to use Cinerella which is not an all-in-one-easy-to-use-for-noobs-like-me package but I'm trying to learn it. I have these questions:
I still use Kino to capture my video. Should I be capturing ".dv" formats? Cinerella opens this format just fine but I did not know if that were the correct format for editing. If not, what is?
I would like to put a new chapter at the start of each sceen. Will Cinerella do this for me or is that done when exported to a DVD?
Will Cinerella burn the files to a DVD or do I need a separate dvd authoring program for that? If I do, which program?
I know about the other programs like Avidemux, Blender, etc...but chose Cinerella. All help is appreciated.
