I played around with this and realized I need to read up some more on it, but I want to know what is the real advantage of doing your own DNS on your server? For now I forwarded my site to my server, masked it, and pointed it to the folder I want to use and it works great. Just curious if this is something I really should educate myself in or not!

Thank you in advance for the in site!

dns resolves names to IP addresses and make its very convenience when you have lots of servers. However i dont know how it would help you when you only have one computer. I mean your browsing might be a bit faster but you'll spend a lot of time doing all that. Why dont you just use openDNS.. i believe thats the name.
