Help with Hp Photosmart C4480 series

While setting up the printer, i've tried to print a test page and the problem is that it says connecting but it wont print at all. The printer says printing and the Mac says printing but on the HP printer document queue it says connecting and will not go on any further.

How are you adding the printer?
I have a C5180 and I can only get it to work with the HP JetDirect method.

Im am doing a full install of the printer, like the mac knows its there and sends jobs to the printer using the hp manger but nothing will print
