Hi,

I'm currently having trouble connecting an Ubuntu 8.04 PC connect to a wireless router that uses a 40 bit WEP key.

Using no encryption, 64 bit or 128 bit WEP encryption the connection works fine. The only problem occurs when using a 40 bit key. Obviously I require this to function not only for home functions but the knowledge that it will be working for access areas away.

WPA is not an option.

No joy with default network manager, manual configuration or Wicd.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to those who have viewed this post and have considered a solution.

I have, for the moment, encountered a fix. I simply upgraded to 8.10 and lo-and-behold suddenly connectivity!

Take it easy now.
