I've tried, but failed. Has anybody else succeeded? I've managed to install IE and Windows Media Player. I can also access the 4OD site using IE through Wine. However, I have not been able to get my system configured to install 4OD. Can anybody help?

It dosen't work period.
I've tried every trick under the sun to get it work on WINE, it just refuses full stop, your wasting your time.
Your only choices are to torrent (illegal but it's their own fault for being m$' bitch with DRM.......god I hate DRM sooooooooooooo much)
Or you could install XP in VirtualBox, that is of course if you have a copy of XP lying around =/

Thanks RaiCoss.
I do have a copy of Windows, but I will not install it on my machine in principle. I do not see why, when my hardware is blatantly capable of performing this function, I should ***** myself on the altar of Windows to access something that Windows users can access so easily. I am not prepared to install Windows on this system, and frankly, can live without it. Oh, and on the torrent front, AFAIK, that's what you're doing with iPlayer,, 4OD etc anyway, just with their logo, and acting as a mini server for them whenever it suits.

Dunno if this will interest you but you CAN get BBC iPlayer on linux (natively without needing WINE), although it's pretty pointless, as everything you download can just be streamed online.

Yes, AFAIK means As Far As I Know.
And I have used the iPlayer streamer, and iPlayer desktop until it died on me. Since then I've been using get_iplayer, which is brilliant. Fast, command line based, so really kind to system resources, and no time limits. Also compatible with podcasts and ITV's equivalent of the iPlayer.
