So my girlfriend has given me a tentative ok on building a HTPC and am looking at different options. Mythbuntu looks interesting to me because of the scalability as well as the fact that I've used Ubunutu in the past on my old laptop. I have a few things that I need my new setup to do and I want to make sure that Mythbuntu will work for me and my 720p Panasonic plasma.

What I want to be able to do:

1) Record OTA HD shows from my antenna
2) Stream Hulu.com
3) Play Bluray ISOs & discs
4) Stream video/music wirelessly from my Vista 64 system in another room

Is this all possible?

1. not a problem
2. Yes, look into the mythvodka plugin. Not sure how easy it is to integrate into stock mythbuntu.

3. I think requires a little extra work - not sure about the playing of bluray discs, but you can rip them and play them.
4. Not a problem.

1) Yes

2) Yes, but it's a new unofficial plugin. It's under development and kinda finicky

3) I don't know.

4) Yes, just share them from your windows PC and mount the share as a samba share on your mythbuntu system. As long as it is 54G and not 11B you should be fine.

1. Yes, use Schedules Direct for the TV guide data for $20/year. It works very well, and I would highly recommend two tuners. The same antenna can be split into both.

2. I wish this was better. I would like to stream (and record) NASA TV and C-Span, and Comedy Central. Then play it from the recordings menu. I would upgrade my Mythbuntu box if this works better in the future.

3. I didn't know about this. If I can rip BR disks, I wouldn't worry about buying a BR player. I play HD movies that I have found on-line currently and it works just fine as a digital download player, but requires a little more human interaction than a real netflix, Amazon or cable system.

4. I wish this was setup a little better too. And if you have a big enough hard drive, you may think about having a backup on your Mythbuntu machine in case something happens to the Vista box.

1) Yes, I recommend getting a HDHomeRun (http://www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun) (2 tuners in 1 little box) ;)
2) Maybe this will work: http://www.paulyanez.com/labs/hulu/hulu_media_player.html, but will require you to switch out of MythTV while watching Hulu :( But maybe you can setup a RemoteControl short-cut (i.e. ALT-TAB) to switch from HULU and then back into MythTV
