View Full Version : Best place to post trivial tips?

Sometimes you get those "Eureka!!" moments when something that's been bothering you for ages suddenly makes sense. (In my case it was how to make relative symlinks that aren't broken. :) )
Where's the best place to share that kind of insight?
Absolute beginner talk?
Cafe?
General support?
(Tips and Tutorials would be way overkill I think.)
Just keep it to yourself?
How about handy snips of BASH code and the like?

On the most relevant pages of the wiki?

I think the tips and tutorials would actually be appropriate. (I think the wiki is sacred ground and should only contain the most relevant material in a well structured form! ;))
If you do post to tips&tuts, there will be a review of the posting before making it public, it can take a few days but don't be scared.
They say that one of the best parts of Ubuntu is the community. This sure sounds like a community stuff.

T&T is OK so long as your post meets the criteria defined in the sticky. Making symlinks is easy once you know how, I wouldn't say it's complete trivial though. I certainly had problems!
BTW, wiki.ubuntu.com is the team wiki area and also contains a lot of very unofficial documentation and guides. help.ubuntu.com is the official system docs in html format, and help.ubuntu.com/community are the Community Docs. The Community Docs are where the best supported guides should be hosted and maintained, and there is a lot of linking and redirecting between the team wiki and the community docs.

Thanks all.
I'll send something to T&T - definitely more a tip than a tutorial, but the criteria laid out in that sticky look reasonable enough
