I have a friend with a Bridge plotter/cutter, with which he would like to design logos, etc. and print and cut them. The software that came with the plotter is both closed source and Windows based. I would like to get him using The GIMP under Ubuntu, but am unable to find anything relating to cutting printers used under Ubuntu or the GIMP. Anyone worked with a similar setup that can point me in the right direction?

What is the name of this software you are looking for a alternative of?
The table of equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software in Linux. (http://www.linuxrsp.ru/win-lin-soft/table-eng.html)

Thanks for the reply. The software that came with it (and works, but is borderline useless) is ActCut. This is a Chinese application with very little documentation and seemingly no support. The most info I could find on it is here:

doesn't llok like he chose wisely...
The table of equivalents would be nice. I'll Google around for it.

<edit>
The name of the existing application is ArtCut - not ActCut.

I looked through the list via the link you posted and could not find ArtCut listed. The guys over on the Gimp IRC channel directed me to have a look at Inkscape, which should be able to export into most of the vinyl cutting software applications' proper formats...
