Hey everyone, sorry to clutter with a thread similar to many others, but I'm at wits end here. I have went back and looked at any number of G5-related threads, but can't find an answer.

I installed 8.10 with the alternate CD, and didn't seem to have a problem. Yaboot seems to be configured correctly, and it goes through both stages of booting, and looks as if the system is initializing. Then, I just get to a back screen with a solid white underscore cursor at the top left of the screen. I get this same issue when I had booted the 7.10 livecd, but eventually it went away and the system boots. No such luck in this case.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please, which PowerMac g5 do you have?
Didn't you have the problem described in this thread? http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964904
Did you notice anything during the installation?

It's a Powermac G5 1.8 ghz single processor.

I did have the CDROM issue, but had found those threads previously and didn't have an issue with getting things to work. Other than that, no problems during install.

Do you have the Ubuntu 8.04 Live CD? Can you please post your /etc/yaboot.conf file?
