I've installed Ubuntu Studio 8.10 on a Dell Inspiron 1525 and have run into 2 issues thus far, both of which boggle me.
The first issue is a non-existent NetworkManager. It detects my wireless card (a Broadcom) and tells me restricted drivers are available for it. I activate them, it turns green but I still don't have the usual NetworkManager icon in the top right corner. This leads me to believe it's simply not included with Ubuntu Studio, which seems freakish.
The second issue is after I've activated the Broadcom driver, I restart and bam, hit with colored lines all over the place. This also doesn't seem right because just before I was running it just fine and the only change I made was in activating the Broadcom driver.
What is going on? And how can I fix this? I checked the md5sum and CD integrity, both are good. I should mention I don't have a direct Internet connection available currently, only Wi-Fi and through this secondary computer.
