Easy 10. Even the problems I've had have been fun to solve.

I've experienced that definitley too, instead of waiting for microsoft to solve my problems, it feels like they're patronizing you. But still, wireless networking is a necessity.

On average Ubuntu rates a good 8/10, the same rate I once gave to windows XP.
The only thing that I ever ranked higher was win2k at 9/10, win2k was my last good brush with MS.
There were linux distros I ranked around that number, including Ubuntu 6.04.

For some odd reason I think everyone's going to give a high rating. There's just something that seems to hint at it...

Is 10 the highest level of experience or lowest?

Id say since Feisty -- a 5/10. Ok, I admit it. I have a group of computers that I run a mixture of Ubuntu, WinXP and even Vista. Ubuntu is on those with the older hardware. However something happened somewhere in the Feisty to Gutsy transition with the kernel. Graphics and Sound were working great, now -- very spotty. I like the improvements in other areas Ive seen with Intrepid, however the dropping of older hardware support (which I guess every OS has) really stinks. Wireless drivers are getting better, however I'm not exactly sure if this has anything to do with the newer versions of ubuntu. Something tells me the ath5k and newer broadcom solutions would work just as well with older kernels.

Over 9000! Or maybe not...
Hmm, my Ubuntu experience has been about the best of all the OSs I've used, but then again that's not really a high praise. I can't really blame Ubuntu for not having drivers to my wireless, because I bought this laptop knowing that the wireless might not work (I have no use for it, and I've also found out that it does work with ndiswrapper). On the other hand Ubuntu has never been the stablest OS around (at least for me -- Gentoo was much better even with all the bleeding edge stuff ;) )...
I think I'd give it an 8.

I would have to say 8.5.
Just needs some work on the graphics drivers, and needs more computer games. Besides those two points everything else works perfectly. Maybe it will rise to 9 as I get internet in my apartment. :p

I'd say 9
The remaining point though I have to say is because I don't consider any OS perfect and Ubuntu is the closest to perfect among the ones I've seen. Also, I wish Ubuntu supported webcams better.

9.8/10 - Detected everything except microphone port, but that was easy to sort out. Only requires occasional tweaks.

Easily the best experience I have had with a distro. There were a few things that annoyed me, so giving it a perfect score is not right, even though I am tempted because it really has been a good experience.

10, it's the perfect newbie distribution, but I have now moved on to Arch since my monitor is now properly detected.
Don't worry about the Ubuntu TMW install scripts, I will continue to work on them through Virtualbox. :)

Probably a 7 or 8. When I first got started with Ubuntu 7.04 or 6.10, I didn't have any major problems at all. However, with the last few releases I've been having a lot of problems with video card drivers, webcams, printers and home networks.

That's very strange. Usually the newest kernel will support the latest hardware without problems. I can't speak about webcams but I've not had any problems with graphic drivers, printers, or home networks. Maybe the hardware forums can give you some help with those. Still you gave it a good rating.:D

8.5-9
RedHat and I just kinda coexisted. Barely.
OpenSuSE effectively taught me Linux intricacies, and I tolerated running it as a means to an end.
Ubuntu got me to actually enjoy using, running, and administering linux installations.
It doesn't get a 10 from me yet because I still observe some credibility issues with Ubuntu in academia and corporate environments, and that causes some issues. Like some of our clients where I work scoff at the idea of ubuntu as a platform for new projects, until we reveal to them that some of the servers we already maintain for them have been running it for a couple years now. Hopefully this issue will change though.

I don't think any OS deserves a 10, as that suggests perfection.
I almost gave it an 8, because it doesn't have the kind of games that other OSes have, but then I realized that that wasn't an Ubuntu issue.

These are my ratings of various releases. Bear in mind that my needs changed over time, leaning towards simplicity and control rather than out-of-the-box use.

Edgy: 9
Feisty: 7
Gutsy: 5
Hardy: 6
Intrepid: 5

I noticed that a lot of Ubuntu user's approval has gone down with these last few releases. I think Intrepid is great. But I've only started using Ubuntu recently, so is there something that I'm missing that makes all the previous releases worse?

Newer Ubuntu releases are more usable out-of-the-box, but I find them slower and more complex. I really like an extremely simple system. There's nothing wrong with automation, but it needs to be done in a elegant fashion.
EDIT: Things like this (in recent versions of Xorg) really irritate me:Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection
That's a really helpful config file...

I'd say a solid 4. It works good generally, but at the end of the day I still have to boot Vista to enjoy the latest and greatest the computer world has to offer me.

To be fair, the OP should have provided a bit of guidance (at least) because usually one rates something as relative to something else, or as a weighted self-referential comparison between a goal state and the realized state.
Otherwise, it's about as meaningless as a thread titled "Help!!! It doesn't work!"
