For me, it's this picture of victoria crater on mars, 24 megapixels! Good god, what kind of cameras do they put on those space craft?! I'm trying to scale it down to something compiz fusion would accept as a skydome, but 24 megapixels, jeez!

I'm not sure where I got it, or where it went for that matter, but I used to have an image of the crater where the Twin Towers in New York used to stand, the .jpg file was a little over 14MB. It took about 4 minutes to open in gqview on a P4/2.2 w/1GB.

NASA has some multigigabyte images from their sattelites. They would make really cool backgrounds if you had a wall of monitors on xinerama.
