I am using Ubuntu 8.10. Just to see how was doing the famous KDE 4, I installed and used it for a couple of hours. For some reason, it was extremely unstable, and kwin couldn't stand up for one hour without crashing.
Now, every time I log into Gnome, all the system-wide installed menu icons disappeared from "Applications" menu, only icons from my user account persist. Also, the sections "Preferences" and "Settings" disappeared from "System" menu.
I can say all the shortcuts are still installed because they are still available from KDE. The problem occurs with all user accounts in the system.
Can anyone help?
