View Full Version : Help me figure out whats up with my system

I have some general questions because something is fishy with my system.
I cant quite put my finger on it but when I try to install some things, the default install usually has permission issues. I have been fighting with mythvodka lately. Seems as if my user/group settings are funky. Also some settings in mythfrontend don't stick.
Sometimes my desktop looses the default setting (xfce desktop reverts to default and I have to log out and back in for it to restore, I also loose my administrative rights.)

I am not sure what exactly I should be looking for but to start I have these questions.

1.Why is the mythtv user not shown as a actual user in user and groups? Should it be?
2.What should the default permissions of /var/www be?
3.Does this look correct?
(mysql)
Host | User | Password |

+-------------+------------------+-------------------------------------------+

| localhost | root | I deleted this stuff

| ultramagnus | root | |

| 127.0.0.1 | root | |

| localhost | | |

| ultramagnus | | |

| localhost | debian-sys-maint |

| localhost | mythtv |

| % | mythtv I deleted this stuff

Thanks for the help.
