I have a new Pangolin Performance with Ubuntu 8.10. There have been some kernel upgrades appearing in the automatic update lists the past several days (01/26/09 -- 01/29/09). I started one update and got a message about an update being available for GRUB but that a local mod had been applied to it so did I want to proceed with the update. I declined because I didn't want to wipe out any System76 mods.

My question is, are there compatibility issues with the System76 kenel that I need to be concerned about when deciding whether to apply kernel updates?

System76 doesn't use a special or modified kernel. You generally can accept the updates that come down via Update Manager.

That's what I wanted to know. Many thanks!
