Hi,
I'm a user of Ubuntu, I have installed the Ubuntu 8.04 on my machine (with ASUS mother board) and I have a Creative soudblaster Live sound card.

I have been using Creative Inspire 4.1 speakers. But only front 2speakers are working, and I don't hear anything from the rear speakers.

Please help me make the best use of my speakers.

I'm not really sure if this will solve your problem or not...but it had solved mine.
Initially I had the green plug inserted in the green jack & the blue plug in the blue jack.
And once..while trying to get all the speakers to work..I removed the the blue plug from the blue jack..and miraculously I got all my speakers working.

So, according to me, just make sure that you've inserted only the green plug [in the green jack, off course!]. Hopefully, it'll do the trick!
