I know this has been asked before and honestly I may have asked it--But I wanted to know what browser was everyone's main browser of choice?
I think im going to use Opera a bit more as I want to learn how it works

Epiphany, thanks to its bookmarks and the fact it's the GNOME browser.

Ubuntu: Swiftfox
Windows: Google Chrome (and Firefox if I need to check my Hotmail. For some reason, Hotmail doesn't work in Chrome)

Likely because lazy Web developers sniff browsers, and if it's not Firefox or MSIE, it won't work.

NO! I can't be the only using konqueror on the forum!
By the way, I still use firefox on my laptop and at work. The only reason I am using konqueror now is because firefox is painfully slow and the look is excruciatingly ugly in kde. I also occasionally use Arora before 4.2 for the speed, because konqueror is like a zombie back then.

FF3, never really got on with Opera. At work, I am forced, against my will to use IE6. That was the last version of IE I used before I found FF, my god I can't believe how bad a browser could be.

+1. I don't know how I would browse without Vimperator.

If Opera would FINALLY release a FRIGGIN X86_64 Qt4 build-I'd use Opera. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they refuse-they offer just about everything else, why not 64bit Qt4????? They also never respond to people asking when and why.
As is Both Opera and FF3 integrate terribly on 64-bit KDE. Therefore it is Konqueror for me.

i always keep opera installed, but just for some light and quick browsing (because it starts up a lot faster than firefox). other than that, it looks pretty ugly on linux, and doesn't quite give performance like it does on windows.
on the other hand firefox works equally well on linux as well as windows. infact for lighter work, i use epiphany more than opera.

I have Opera, Firefox and Konqueror installed. I usually open Firefox out of habit but I believe Opera is equally as good. Konqueror isn't my style though.

Firefox 3, TwitterFox, Firebug, Greasemonkey, AdBlockPlus, Flashgot, all are add-ons that I just can't seem to part with. I use opera from time to time.

What is this Vimperator ye speak of?

What is this Vimperator ye speak of?
A Firefox extension that makes it behave somewhat like vim, providing total keyboard control. See http://vimperator.org/trac/wiki/Vimperator

Most definitely this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vimperator
It sounds interesting and looks like it could 'enhance' your browsing experience. I think I'll give It a try later.
@Vimperator users: Does it require that you be experienced with Vim or can you install Vimperator and get straight into it? Why do you use this addon?

It can be a bit confusing without very basic vim knowledge, but it really isn't that similar. I use it so I never have to touch the mouse.

If you mean how to get your default Firefox task bars back then all you would have to do is uninistall Vimperator.
If you don't like Vimperator at all, you can uninstall it by typing :addons and removing/disabling it.
If you like it, but can't remember the shortcuts, press F1 or :help.

I've been wanting to use Opera for a while, but it uses Qt3.
I can't find a Qt4 version anywhere. My intention is to make it use the qgtkstyle theme so that it matches my GNOME setup.
Any help?

From the very top of the Vimperator homepage:
Warning: To provide the most authentic Vim experience, Vimperator hides the Firefox menubar and toolbar by default. Most users find them unnecessary once they're used to Vimperator, but if you really need them, type: :set guioptions+=mT to get them back.
;)
But since there is no address bar, where would one pray tell type that command to uninstall vimperator?
Type :help for help.

Wait for Opera 10 :/
There have been no Opera10 Alpha Qt4 builds for 64bit, and it doesn't look like there will be in the future...last I knew Opera had 32bit Qt4 tho'.

32bit QT4 for Opera10Alpha2 can be had here:
http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/snapshot-4126/intel-linux/
For alpha builds they are VERY stable and usable.

So, I have been a firefox user for the last 3 years or so. I recently downloaded Opera browser to check it out, and it seems to load pages a lot quicker. I was just wondering if some of you would be willing to share your personal experiences mainly with Opera and how it differs, because I think I might like it.
I have already noticed it has some interesting widgets and features, as well as some cool themes. How about as far as a pop-up blocker and the security with storing passwords?
Thanks for the advice and sharing your experiences!

Have been using Opera for about 6 years in Windows, when the speed difference was massive and I don't belive Firefox existed.
I'd be hard pushed to move from it now.
If anyone uses Opera and facebook.com, pls look at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1059509

I used Opera way back when it wasn't free and it was better than IE at the time. I recently installed it on my Ubunto 8.10 and it is way slower than Firefox, seems to take forever for pages to load. I check some threads and made a few tweaks and it did help some but FF is still faster for me. I.m using it on my laptop and 11mb wireless so I don't know if that has any bearing.
I'd say install it and give it a try for yourself and see how it works for you,

While I agree opera feels faster than firefox for me (slightly) I can't live without my firefox addons.
And Opera doesn't match my gtk theme :) I can't have non-gtk aware apps it just bugs me.

Opera does seem to test slightly faster than Firefox (according to comparisons such as this one (http://www.geekstogo.com/2008/06/18/firefox-3-vs-opera-95/), this one (http://lifehacker.com/396048/speed-testing-the-latest-web-browsers), though this one (http://www.download.com/8301-2007_4-9973363-12.html) has Firefox slightly faster), but it's a difference of fractions of a second, and Opera is nowhere near as customizable.
While Opera incorporates a few built-in features that Firefox achieves through common plugins (which is part of the reason Opera may be a bit faster), you can't really add to that set functionality. Firefox, on the other hand, has a huge collection of add-ons to customize your browser to your browsing habits and preferences. Plus, Firefox is FOSS, where Opera is not. This, IMO, gives the edge to Firefox.

Been using Opera since 2.x (I am ox03 on the Opera forums) and Firefox since Phoenix. Bottom line is that I use both as Opera has never been forgiving with sites authored outside of standards. I am running two heavily tweaked Opera 10.00.4126 builds (qt4 shared qt3 static) and a FireFox 3.1b2 PGO default build built against mozilla libraries (runs faster than builds relocating against system libs) on a fine-tuned Arch build. Needless to say, Firefox has been tweaked via userChrome.css and user.js for speed with no themes and extensions running. Basically, the fastest Opera release builds vs. the fastest Firefox release build (release is not trunk). My current opinions? Firefox renders faster than Opera overall. Seriously. It was always the other way around, even with 3.0.5 PGO vs. 9.63. BUT...Opera remains my primary browser because it is ultimately more customizeable out of the box, from mouse gestures to URL filtering and more. You start adding themes (I suppose you could hack chrome) and extensions, and Firefox starts to slow down considerably. My solution? Add the following entry:
[Site Navigation Toolbar.content]
Button, "Firefox"="Execute program, "/usr/bin/firefox", "%u", , "Firefox""
To my Opera toolbar config file, thereby enabling me to redirect broken pages in Opera to the more forgiving Firefox. It is a win-win situation if you use both.

I've been using Firefox for long time now and is satisfied with it's performance. I've tried Opera, yes it loads faster in some sites, but Firefox is generally faster in loading more sites. Not to mention being more secured. They say the new browser chrome is faster. I've tried it and still prefer Firefox.

Have you gotten Chrome to run in linux? When I tried to download it from Google, it said it was "coming soon"...
