Hi All
I have been a linux user for several years. In fact I do not use any other OS. SUSE has been my main stay; it works well and certainly can be recommended, but I sometimes find their user forums very unfriendly (particularly for the technically inept such as myself).
I have recently tried Ubuntu and I have been highly impressed by the quality, simplicity and sheer vastness of the distribution.
In particular though, the forum is wonderful: it is very helpful and friendly. For this reason alone I would strongly recommend the distribution for those who may not be technical wizards but want access to all the benefits of Linux.
If the administrators maintain this spirit on the forum, I foresee that this distribution will become the most popular... Long live (K)Ubuntu

Hey, I'll certainly second those sentiments. :-)

I'm one of those who is struggling but much happier with the results I have received here, than on previous forums.

And we can all help to keep this forum friendly and helpful. Everyday, there are numerous questions raised here - some of which you may be able to answer yourself. Don't be shy, if we new guys help with the easy ones, we free up the experts who can then look at the questions and problems that require their expertise! If you reach the limit of your own expertise, simply say so and let someone else pick up from where you left off. Secondly, read the forums and try to learn what worked - make a note of it. If all you can do is point someone else in the right direction then you are making a contribution.

Another Kubuntu user :). Well, i no longer use Kubuntu, it uses too much of my system. But i agree with you, a big part of choosing this distributuon for me was the quality of the support.

If it were'nt for the forums, I would be lost. I find the answer to 99.99999% of my problems here. I love it. I've only used linux for 3 months, and I really like it, but to have good control over and knowledge about the OS, this forum is the best aid I have found.

I have created my personal "ubuntu forums library", I copy the link of the posting I want to save and give it a brief descrition and save it into a document, using any program such as, text editor, Open Office, or my favorite is the Mozilla Composer. Then I put these in categories.

Then later if I need to review something or if there is a posting that one of these I saved would help someone else, I have it at my finger tips.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can not remember every thing.....lol
