I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 in a virtual box on OSX 10.5.
and the visual effects don't seem to work.

The visual effects do work on this computer if Ubuntu runs from a live CD,
so it must be virtual box causing the issue...

Is there a way I can fix this, such as increasing the memory for the virtual machine or changing video driver options?

Much thanks!

Don't think its possible yet (unless you're running a Windows guest).

See here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1015848).

I don't think that you will be able to get the 3d effect to run successfully in a virtual machine. The effects need a video driver that supports various advanced features and i don't think that the drivers that the VM provides to the installed system are adequate.
