Stellarium - How to Add Custom Star Catalogues?

Does anyone know how to add custom star catalogues into Stellarium? I know the default catalogues are under /stars/default, but I don't know how to edit a .cat file so I can find no way to edit/create one. Any helps?

I think all the information you need is in Appendix D of the users guide (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/stellarium/stellarium_user_guide-0.9.1-1.pdf).

I'm sorry, the information I mentioned was in Appendix D of the version I was looking at. In the version I linked above, the info is in Appendix E.
