Hello, im new to your forum and also to Ubuntu. i recently replaced vista with Ubuntu 8.10 x64 on my dell xps m1710. But i am having trouble getting my wireless N card working all the way. On windows (same PC), Speedtest.net told me my connection (Down) was ~17mb/s. On ubuntu, it is 3.3mb/s. I am using an internal Intel pro wireless card: Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. I am able to get internet, but not nearly as fast as i should be getting so any help/advice would be great. Also, can i view microsoft word documents on Ubuntu "out of the box"?
Thanks

Not sure about the wireless side, but you can open MS Word docs in OpenOffice which is installed by default.

For MS Word 2007, I think you'll need to upgrade to OpenOffice 3.0 (still not available from the repositories the last time I checked).
