hi.
The jail used to be read only before but now its private.
All of us like to read nonsense :D once in a while so maybe make it accessible again?
If not, please can anyone tell me why its locked?
regards

To my knowledge the jail can only be viewed by staff and the users that are involved in the thread or post in jail.
This was the case for me before I became staff also. :)

It used to be open to anyone, a very long time ago. We closed it because leaving it open allows search engine spiders to crawl through it, which meant they indexed all the spam and other garbage in there. We didn't want that, and honestly, the stuff in there is not what we want the forums to be associated with; spam, grumpy or rude behavior, etc., but we want to keep some of it around in case we need an evidence trail.

Just out of curiosity, I beleive that I have a couple of posts in the jail section, put there because I responded to a dangerous command, warning users not to run it until it was taken care of by staff.
However, I could not view it for some reason, and now, it has long since disappeared. Should I be able to view at least the single post that I made?

Also, if you post in a thread that is jailed, does this put a "mark" on your record?

Hmm. Posts moved to the jail have permissions set to allow staff and the person who posted it to view them. If it is in there, you should be able to see it.
I can't look into this right now, but if you are worried about it, we can investigate further at a later time.

Only yours :) For everybody else, no.

That would be nice, but not high-priority. I am almost 100% certain that I do have a post in there, but even setting the jail to veiw all posts from the last year doesn't bring it up.
Again, it isn't very important, and therefore isn't high-priority, but it would be nice just to see that I can view my posts in the jail, as I should be able to.

I did a search in the jail and didn't find anything by you.
If it was in there, it doesn't appear to be anymore. Sorry.

Odd... I know I had a post in there from the Off-topic game that was a response to the usual taboo command...
Thanks for checking for me though. :)

No problem.
Are you sure it got sent to the jail. I usually delete replies to spam and taboo commands rather than move them to the jail.

It was definatly there. While browsing the FFH subforum, it showed up in the jail, but I couldn't access it. Maybe it was there only momentarily, until it was deleted...?

I'd imagine it's a privacy concern (If you got infracted for a post, would you want people to read it?). Plus, the posts in there are in there for a reason: Nobody wants to read them.

Sorry to bring this up again, but now I have proof.

This just happened a few minutes ago, but when I click the link, I get a permission error.

That's has happened a couple of times with threads I posted in last - never had any of my posts jailed to my knowledge, so I think that being able to see it happens by mistake.

However, in this case, I'm sure it is there. I know why it's there (nothing bad on my part), and I know who put it there. Why I can see it, but yet not access it is beyond me.

This just happened a few minutes ago, but when I click the link, I get a permission error. The link you are trying to click was for the entire thread*, most of which was not posted by you and therefore appropriately not available to you.
What happens when you click this link, which goes directly to your one post in the thread?

*EDIT: technically, it's a link to the last post in a thread, which is yours, but it is not a direct link to your post, but a symbolic link to the "last post," which the permissions system does not read ownership of during the attempted access process.

jenkinbr, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation..

Hmm. Well, that is interesting.
Thanks. We'll look into it when we can.

When you have time.
I honestly could care less that it is in there, it was mearly commenting on the previous posts.
It's more the what's supposed to happen is not happening bit.
