Good day.
I run ubuntu 8.10 on ASUS F3Sa laptop (ICH8 HDA Intel soundcard with ALC660-VD codec). Some days ago I decided to find out why sound from my mic is so noisy and ways to "improve" it. I removed MS Vista completely, so there is a real problem to check settings available with "reference-native-drivers" (thought I saw that there are "noise suppression" checkboxes).
However I didn't find any useful options (like "Boost Mic +20dB"). All sliders for boosting mic just increase mic volume together with noise level. Tried all listed models for ALC660/ALC660-VD, but nothing significant so far.
I'm relatively new ubuntu (using it since 7.04), so I may have missed something essential in my search.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
P.S. I'm using recent ALSA v1.0.19.
