Hi there, i need help with this modem in Ubuntu 8.10. I'm a newbie in linux, and i connect to internet in MS Windows, in this os when i plug it, appears like usb mass storage device and when the connection program starts it switchs to modem, i want to get the modem mode on linux, i know that in linux exists a little program called usb modeswitch but i couldn't install it, anyway when i switch to modem on windows i reboot my machine leaving the modem connected, boot linux and it recognizes the modem! but network-manager does not... using wvdial recognizes the modem but trying to conect it responds:
wvdial:
–> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
–> Cannot get information for serial port.
–> Initializing modem.
–> Sending: ATZ
–> Sending: ATQ0
–> Re-Sending: ATZ
–> Modem not responding.
what i have to do??!!. sorry for the spelling i don't speak english native and tranlators are bad.
