What is the future of php developers?

Hi guys,

Our friend circle is working in php development. Some friends are thinking to shift in asp.net. Please guide me what is the future of php developer's.

As long as non-Microsoft servers are being used, there'll be need for PHP developers.

Well, you can do ASP on mono with Apache or FastCGI (http://www.mono-project.com/ASP.NET). But there are any number of web-frameworky languages/libraries; knowing more isn't going to hurt :).

Not to diss php.

But very obviously it's smarter to invest your brainpower into learning years worth of tricks and quirks for a language that can be used outside web apps, such as Python or Ruby.
