Ubuntu 8.10 64
Wine 1.1.13

got Age of Empires running, but cant get Age of empires 2 to run
got freelancer and Homeworld2 running, but Empire earth and settlers 3 wont work

no fault messages, it opens up a virtual desktop, and then promptly shuts down again,

but then others work flawlessly, (with the exception of some slight screen flickers (goes blue for a split second) when I click using the mouse. (only noticed it on Homeworld2 however))

any ideas

Have you checked Wine's Application Database (http://appdb.winehq.org/) to see if the games actually work with Wine and what, if anything, you might need to do to make them work?

Wine is hit and miss. Check the database for compatibility.
