How to upgrade ubuntu desktop 7.04 to 8.10

Hi,

I am using ubuntu 7.04 in my system and I have ubuntu 8.10 desktop installation CD.

Is it any way to upgrade ubuntu 7.04 to 8.10 from CD.

Unfortunately not. Backup your personal files and re-install.

I found an experimental way to do it, changing the release name in the sources.list file, feisty > intrepid and then updating.
I'm tying it, so if i could do it, ill post my experience... if don't... well I'll be in trouble!
