The only way is to install some Windows browser together with Windows version of Shockwave player using Wine.

Macromedia never released a Linux-version of Shockwave, and it doesn't look like Adobe would be releasing one either. :/

there is no shockwave player on linux. So you are stuck with wine or a virtual machine

what type of shockwave games? is it a file or some web-page game? most web shockwave games play fine with the adobe flash firefox plugin installed, some don't.
if it's a file you can get a stand alone .swf player from adobe for linux

Yeh some shockwave wont work without wine, probably wont be an issue for much longer as shockwave is dead.

Yeh I think that they will be merged in flash 11, at least we can try to suggest that to adobe.

Those would be flash games. ;)

Shockwave and Shockwave Flash are two completely different things. Shockwave content is in .dcr
format (if I remember right, it's been years since I have worked with Director/Shockwave) while Flash uses .swf.

(When Shockwave became popular Macromedia started adding "Shockwave" as prefix to all their product names, "Flash" became "Shockwave Flash", Freehand online plugin became "Shockwave for Freehand" and so on..)

It's unlikely that Shockwave would ever be completely merged with Flash, it does things like hardware accelerated 3D graphics, IRC and loads of other stuff, has it's own scripting language (Actionscript in Flash, Lingo in Director/Shockwave) and so on. And n the end Flash content can be embedded inside Shockwave. I'd say that most of Shockwaves features that are useful in Flash have already been done (video & pixmap graphics support).

Sites like http://www.isketch.net (http://www.isketch.net/) & http://www.habbo.com (http://www.habbo.com/) Habbo Hotel are both SW sites, and that's one reason I can't convince my son to convert to *buntu.

Haven't been very sucessfil installing them in WINE, either.

Wine should work, you'll just need to install both Shockwave and some windows browser.

But if you can't get Wine workinh you can also try CrossOver, or perhaps install Windows on a virtual machine..
